Author Rod Beemer honored at Kansas Book Festival for his latest title

Rod Beemer’s book, Notorious Kansas Bank Heists: Gunslingers to Gangsters, was selected as a 2016 Kansas Notable Book. Kansas Notable Books is a project of the Kansas Center for the Book, a program of the State Library. Throughout the award year, the State Library promotes and encourages promotion of all the titles on that year’s list at literary events, and among librarians and booksellers.

THE TELEVISION PROGRAM “AROUND KANSAS,” co-hosted by Deb Goodrich and Frank Chaffin, featured a segment on author Rod Beemer and his new book Notorious Kansas Bank Heists: Gunslingers to Gangsters this morning, Wednesday, December 16, 2015.

Goodrich declared, “This book is fantastic,” adding that it “… is the perfect Christmas gift.”

Local author pens new book on Custer

BENNINGTON — A voracious reader from childhood, Rod Beemer remembered the day in 1960 when he purchased an entire set of the Encyclopædia Britannica with his own money.

It was a proud moment until his mother, a teacher, found out how much her 18-year-old son had spent on the multivolume set — nearly $700.

“My mom told me she could have bought the books for half the price,” he said.
