Kansas author Rod Beemer will detail the state’s bank robbery history during a presentation Tuesday evening at the Reno County Museum, 100 S. Walnut St.

Free to the public and sponsored by the Friends of the Hutchinson Public Library, the program begins at 6:30 p.m. Registration is not required to attend.

Beemer, an independent writer, researcher and speaker from the Ottawa County town of Minneaspolis, has authored and co-authored 12 nonfiction books and an e-book novel, as well as anthologies and innumerable magazine and newspaper articles.

His latest book is “Notorious Kansas Bank Heists: Gunslingers to Gangsters,” selected earlier this year as one of 15 titles for the Kansas Notable Book List compiled by the State Library of Kansas.

The book tells of many colorful outlaw and vigilante figures and those who tried to stop them, from the Dalton Gang of the Old West to a group of Depression-era sheriffs from Cowley County who patrolled in an airplane containing a .50-caliber machine gun. For more, visit rodbeemer.com.

Copies of the book will be available for sale and autographing at the event, which also will feature light refreshments. After the presentation, the museum will remain open for tours of two bank vaults, plus chase and getaway vehicles.
